Why LOW.MS?
Below are a few reasons why LOW.MS is the ideal place to host your game server.
The session outlives the host
Nobody's disconnect ends the night. Everyone connects to the same address, every time.
One canonical content list
The server decides which campaigns your group runs. Players still install them from the Workshop themselves, which is how the game works, but nobody is guessing which ones.
Set the rules once
Campaign rotation, difficulty and the director's behaviour, all editable from the panel instead of renegotiated every session.
SourceMod supported
Coop player count extensions, admin tooling and the long tail of plugins that keep this game interesting.
Cheap to run
Source servers ask very little of the hardware, so a permanent home for your group costs less than you would guess.
Locations near your players
Datacenters across Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, so Versus is decided by aim rather than ping.
Automatic Cloud Backups
Your Left 4 Dead 2 worlds, settings and mod configuration are backed up to the cloud automatically. Keep up to 20 backups per server and lock the ones that matter so they are never cleared to make room.
From the Backups tab in the LOW.MS control panel you can restore any backup in one click, download a copy to your PC, or take a manual backup before a big change.
- Automatic scheduled backups, stored off your server
- Lock important backups so they are never overwritten
- One-click restore, or download any backup to your PC
- Included with every Left 4 Dead 2 server, no extra cost
Backups include your worlds and mod settings. Locked ones are never deleted to make room.

Read our reviews on TrustpilotTop choice in my list
Out of all hosting providers. This is by far the top choice in my list. Simple UI with a mod manager included making it hassle-free when downloading specific mods.

Very helpful and responsive
I opened a ticket for help migrating my server from a different host. The game is Palworld and it isn't a simple process, they did it for me! Very helpful and responsive.

Insanely reliable service
Their prices are pretty cheap and I thought they'd cut back on performance but damn was I wrong. The service has been insanely reliable and the Support Team are on their own level!

What is Left 4 Dead 2
Left 4 Dead 2 has outlived almost everything released alongside it, and the reason is the Steam Workshop. Years of community campaigns, custom survivors, reworked weapons, new special infected and full conversion mods mean the game you play in 2026 barely resembles the one that shipped. Running that content reliably for a regular group means running your own server. A dedicated server fixes the things that make public lobbies frustrating. The session does not end when the host quits, nobody argues over which campaign to run, and the server holds the canonical map rotation and difficulty rather than whoever happened to open the lobby. Versus and Survival in particular are far better with a fixed server and a fixed group. One thing worth being straight about, because a lot of hosts are not: Left 4 Dead 2 has no server-to-client content delivery. If your server runs a custom campaign, every player installs it from the Workshop themselves, and the server's consistency check turns away anyone who has not. That is how the game is built, not something a host can work around. What a server does give you is one fixed content list for everyone to match, instead of a lobby renegotiating it every night. We are templating Left 4 Dead 2 now, with SourceMod support, config editing and RCON console access. Source servers are light on resources, so this is one of the cheapest ways to give a group a permanent home. Watch this page for the order button.
