Vintage Story uses port 42420 for both TCP and UDP by default. We pre-configure this for you, so your server should be connectable straight away without any manual port setup.
Yes – Vintage Story supports both whitelisting and password protection. You can configure either through the Configuration Files section in your control panel at control.low.ms by editing serverconfig.json.
Head to Configuration Files in your control panel at control.low.ms – that's where you'll find serverconfig.json, which controls things like world size, spawn settings, temporal storm frequency, and more. Changes take effect after a restart, which you can do straight from the Web Console.
We do – all our servers come with automatic cloud backups. You can also trigger manual backups and restore from any previous snapshot using the Cloud Backup and Cloud Restore features in your control panel. Given how much time goes into Vintage Story worlds with seasons and crop growth, I'd say backups are non-negotiable.
It depends on your RAM. Since each player adds roughly 300 MB on top of the ~1 GB base, a 4 GB plan comfortably handles around 10 players. Mods and large world sizes will eat into that, so keep an eye on usage through the panel and upgrade if you need to.
For server-side and Universal mods, yes – those auto-download to anyone who joins, so your friends don't need to install anything manually. Client-only mods (like shader packs) won't transfer, but those are cosmetic and won't stop anyone from connecting.
