Wiping a Rust server used to mean staying up on wipe night, stopping the server, finding the right files and hoping you deleted the right ones. Now you can set it up once in the control panel and it runs on schedule.
Three kinds of wipe
On the Settings tab, your Rust server has three wipe buttons. Each one is also available as a scheduled task:
- Map Wipe: clears the map and player state, and your players keep their learned blueprints. This is the classic "map wipe, keep BPs".
- Blueprint Wipe: clears every player's learned blueprints and keeps the map. The seed never changes.
- Full Wipe: clears the map, player state and blueprints for a completely fresh start.
| Wipe type | Map and player state | Learned blueprints |
|---|---|---|
| Map Wipe | Cleared | Kept |
| Blueprint Wipe | Kept | Cleared |
| Full Wipe | Cleared | Cleared |
Run them on a timetable
Add a wipe from Schedules on the Settings tab, then pick when it runs:
- Weekly on the day you choose, or every two weeks (or any number of weeks).
- Monthly on the first Thursday, in line with Facepunch's force wipes.
- At a time in your timezone. Schedules follow your local clock through daylight saving changes, so a 19:00 wipe stays at 19:00 after the clocks go back.
The panel shows when each schedule will next run, so you can tell your players the date with confidence.
The seed: keep it, roll it or choose one
A map or full wipe can keep the current seed, roll a new random one, or use a specific seed you type in. Randomize Seed On Wipe in your server settings sets the default, so a weekly schedule can give your players a new map every time without you having to step in.
A backup comes first, every time
Every wipe stops the server, takes a backup, deletes the wipe files, applies any new seed and starts the server again. If the backup can't be taken, the wipe doesn't run and your world stays as it was. If anything fails partway through, the panel starts your server again so it isn't left offline. Changed your mind? Restore the backup from the Backups tab.
How it works
When a wipe runs, whether you press the button or a schedule triggers it, the panel goes through these steps in order:
- Stops your server.
- Takes a backup. If this fails, the wipe stops here and nothing is deleted.
- Deletes the wipe files for the type of wipe you chose.
- Applies any new seed.
- Starts your server again.
If something goes wrong after the backup, the panel still starts your server so it is not left offline, and the backup is waiting for you on the Backups tab.
Force wipe day
The next force wipe is expected on Thursday 5 November, the first Thursday of the month. Facepunch usually releases it around 19:00 UK time. When the update is out, press Update on the Game updates card on the Overview tab, and the server comes back on a fresh map. Running a wipe schedule as well is your choice, for example if you also want blueprints cleared that night. Our 2026 wipe schedule lists every date for the rest of the year.

FAQ
Will my players lose their blueprints on a map wipe?
No. A Map Wipe clears the map and player state, and your players keep their learned blueprints. Use a Blueprint Wipe or a Full Wipe if you want blueprints cleared.
Does a Blueprint Wipe change the map?
No. A Blueprint Wipe keeps the map, and the seed never changes.
Can I get a new map every week without doing anything?
Yes. Turn on Randomize Seed On Wipe in your server settings and set up a weekly map or full wipe schedule. Each wipe will roll a new random seed.
What happens to my schedule when the clocks change?
Schedules follow your local clock through daylight saving changes, so a wipe set for 19:00 stays at 19:00.
What if I wipe by mistake?
A backup is taken before every wipe. You can restore it from the Backups tab.
Do I need a wipe schedule for force wipe day?
Not necessarily. Pressing Update on the Game updates card brings your server back on a fresh map. Adding a schedule is your choice, for example if you also want blueprints cleared that night.
