Stormforge enters Steam Early Access on 10 November 2026. What ships at launch, which demo saves carry over, and what the studio has and hasn't said about dedicated servers.

Stormforge, the co-op fantasy survival crafting game from Roboto Games, launches in Steam Early Access on 10 November 2026. The studio announced the date on 17 September and repeated it on 7 October. What it hasn't announced is a dedicated server tool, a price or a launch time, and a roadmap is still to come. If you're playing the demo, there's one thing to check today: only saves made on the 7 October build or later carry into Early Access.

What's in Early Access at launch

The studio's Early Access note on the Steam store page sums up the launch build: "At Early Access launch we'll have 3 major biomes with unique bosses, character classes, unique storm mechanics, co-op PvE multiplayer, crafting, base building and a huge world to explore with over 100 points of interest."

Three biomes, each with a boss

The world, Sorana, is procedurally generated. The demo covers the "First 2 Biomes (Meadow and Forest)", and the studio's playtest post puts the Earthbreaker boss fight in the Howling Woods, inside those first two.

The third biome is new for Early Access. The same post describes it as "the Ember Canyons with a new storm, new enemies, equipment, and a new boss: The Guardian". None of it is in the demo.

Storms that move

Storms hold the materials you need for better gear, and the 7 October demo update changed how they behave:

  • Chaos storms now roam the map. The playtest post calls the new one "Hurricane-like".
  • Crystal pillars protect you from moving storms.
  • Storm shield generators have to be destroyed before you can enter a cursed crystal area.
  • Tornadoes attack in waves.

Classes, skills and building

There are five classes: Warrior, Ranger, Mage, Forager and Villager. You aren't locked into one. The store page says you can play "by mixing and matching skills" across them, with "over 100 skills and 20+ active abilities".

The 7 October update also added a level and XP system, cosmetic equipment slots and a merchant. Magic weapons now run on mana and no longer need ammo. For builders, the demo has Wood and Stone sets, the same update added corrupted stone pieces, and the playtest post promises more.

Co-op for up to eight, and mods

Stormforge is for 1 to 8 players, and the studio describes its multiplayer as "co-op PvE". Steam lists it under Online Co-op and LAN Co-op.

The studio is also pitching Stormforge as moddable: the official site calls it "fully moddable". The store page lists Steam Workshop support and a level editor, and says you can "add mods into your existing game without any separate downloads". It names community-made equipment, enemies, points of interest and game rules as the kinds of thing you'll be able to add.

What to do before 10 November

  1. Check your demo version. The main menu should show v0.1.036.27824 or later. Characters and worlds made on that build carry into Early Access. Anything older stopped working on 7 October, when the save format changed to make room for cloud saving.
  2. Start a fresh character if yours predates that. The studio says of the new saves that "all the preparation and setup you do now will transfer to Early Access".
  3. Leave some of the map unexplored. World generation will keep changing before and during Early Access. Areas you haven't discovered pick up the changes, and areas you have don't. In the studio's words: "You will need to create a new world in order to see all the new things if you have already explored the map areas that have been changed."
  4. Don't plan your group around a dedicated server yet. See the next section.

Does Stormforge have dedicated servers?

Not that the studio has announced. As of 12 October 2026, none of Roboto Games' Steam posts, the store page, the Early Access note or the FAQ on the official site mentions a dedicated server, and Steam lists three Stormforge apps (the game, the demo and the playtest) with no server tool among them.

So for launch, plan on playing co-op through the game itself. Treat any claim that servers are confirmed for 10 November as unsourced until the studio says so, and if it matters to your group, the studio's Discord is the place to ask.

What's coming next

  • Until 30 October: a closed playtest of the Early Access content, scheduled from 7 October. It's private, players are picked from sign-ups on the official site, and it runs under an NDA, so don't expect footage.
  • Before launch: the studio has promised "more details on what you can expect at launch in the coming weeks as well as a roadmap of what the team will be focusing on during Early Access".
  • 10 November 2026: Early Access goes live on Steam.
  • The year after: "We currently expect to be in Early Access for approximately 1 year but it could be shorter or longer depending on community feedback." The road to 1.0 "includes a new mountain biome and boss as well as new storm types, new character classes, and expanded end game content".

FAQ

What time does Stormforge go live on 10 November?

The studio hasn't given a time. For reference, the demo was scheduled for 11 AM Pacific and the 7 October update for 1 PM Pacific, but neither is a promise for launch day.

How much will Stormforge cost?

No price has been announced. The official site says it will be "a paid premium game with a single price paid up front", and the studio expects "a modest price increase for the 1.0 launch".

Will Early Access updates wipe my save?

The plan is that they won't. Asked whether more breaking changes are coming, the studio's answer was: "No, we are not planning on making any other breaking changes to the save format in the future."

Is the demo the same as the Early Access build?

No. It was announced as the first four or more hours of the game, and the 7 October update shrank the demo area and removed blast runes and copper from it. The third biome isn't in it at all.

What do you need to run it?

Steam lists Windows only. The minimum spec is Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600, 16 GB of RAM, a GTX 1060 or RX 580, and 5 GB of storage.
