Enshrouded leaves Early Access on 15 October 2026. Keen's 1.0 release resets every character's skill tree, raises the level cap to 50 and the gear cap to 55, and adds nine new spells (summons among them), upgradeable Eternal spells and three new Eternal arrows. On the day, your server needs the 1.0 build before your players can join, and every player should spend their skill points before leaving base.
What Keen haven't confirmed yet is in our pre-launch post. This one covers what they have confirmed is in the release.
What's in 1.0
Your skill tree will be reset

1.0 adds new skills and moves existing ones, so Keen are resetting the tree for every character. In their words: "your skill tree has been reset, hopefully for the last time." Their advice is blunt: "Don't step out of your base without investing your points, or you're gonna have a bad time." The "hopefully" is because this is the second reset this year: Update 8 reset the tree in April and refunded every point.
Beyond the reset, Keen list moved skills, reduced costs and buffed effects, all from community feedback.
Level cap 50, gear cap 55

"New biome means new enemy tier and max level, for players and gear!" The maximum player level rises to 50, and equipment goes up to level 55.
Every enemy faction, the Fell and Scavengers included, is getting new variants. Some are heavy or elite, so expect tougher fights in familiar places as well as new ones.
Nine new spells, including summons

Mages get the most attention in Keen's 1.0 combat changes. The nine new spells are:
- Mana Drain, which takes a fixed amount of mana per second from an enemy and adds it to your pool
- Entangle, which Keen say helps against tougher enemies
- Pillar of Flames
- Blizzard and Ball Lightning, both area-of-effect spells for groups
- Summon Fire Totem, Summon Ice Totem and Summon Shock Totem
- Summon Hollow Skeleton
Summons are a new category of spell. Two new skills raise how many you can have out at once: Advanced Necromancy for skeletons and Totem Mastery for totems.
Existing spells get more versions too, so a favourite combination from an early biome stays useful later on. Mana costs and casting times are rebalanced around damage: big spells take longer to cast.
Eternal spells become upgradeable. 1.0 has 22 tier 7 spells, the Eternal versions, which cast without using spell ammo. They upgrade like weapons and armour, with their own perks such as reduced mana cost.
Wand heavy attacks and new mage skills

Wands get a heavy attack that pierces past the first enemy and interrupts weaker enemies' attacks. Three of the five new mage skills are built around wands:
- Aerial Wand Attack: an area attack you can trigger in mid-air.
- Wand Evasion Attack: an evasion attack with wider, piercing projectiles.
- Blast and Cast: after a critical hit with a wand, your next staff attack within 10 seconds does 50% more base damage.
Wand targeting favours the centre of the screen and closer enemies, swapping between wand and staff mid-fight gets a batch of fixes, and wands can hit explosive barrels.
New Eternal arrows and archer skills

Every Eternal arrow becomes upgradeable with perks, like weapons and spells. Three new ones join them: the Eternal Fire arrow, Eternal Shock arrow and Eternal Bone arrow.
Archers also get three skills. Puncture raises ranged piercing damage. Barrage gives bow hits a chance to restore a point of durability. Survival Instinct adds Shroud time when you kill a Shroud-infested enemy with a bow or dagger. New aim assist options for ranged combat sit in the game settings, on by default for controller and off for mouse and keyboard.
What your server needs to do on 15 October
- Take a backup before the update, so you have a copy to go back to.
- Update the server to 1.0 once Keen push the server build.
- Check it comes back online before telling your group it is ready.
- Remind everyone to spend their skill points before they head out.
Tip: On LOW.MS, Create backup is on your server's Backups tab, and the Update button is on the Game updates card on the Overview tab. Update stops the server, installs the latest game files and starts it again.
Hosting it yourself? Stop the server, then update the dedicated server app with SteamCMD. The dedicated server is Windows-only, so on Linux add +@sSteamCmdForcePlatformType windows before +login and run it under Wine or Proton:
steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 2278520 validate +quit
What's coming next
- 15 October: Enshrouded leaves Early Access on Steam. Keen have not given a release time.
- October: Keen's Highlights video and the full release changelog. Their 27 August post, about improvements to existing systems, promised "a much longer list waiting for you in the Highlights video (and the release changelog) in October!"
Keen have not yet said anything about the dedicated server build, its config or its ports.
FAQ
My skill tree is empty after the update. Is something wrong with the server? No. Keen are resetting every character's skill tree in 1.0. Their post implies the points come back to spend again, as they did when Update 8 reset the tree.
Does Enshrouded 1.0 wipe existing worlds? Keen have not announced a wipe, and they have not said existing worlds carry over either. Take a backup before updating so you can go back if you need to.
What time does Enshrouded 1.0 release? Keen have announced the date, 15 October, but not a time. The dedicated server app may not update at the same minute as the game, so update your server once the 1.0 server build is out. This post will be updated on the day.
Do my players need to update too? Yes. The server and every player need to be on 1.0. When the two are on different versions, players usually cannot join.
Are the new spells and arrows separate DLC? No paid DLC has been announced with 1.0. Keen present the new spells, summons and Eternal arrows as part of the 1.0 release.
