Czym jest Counter-Strike: Source
Counter-Strike: Source turned twenty in 2024, and Valve has moved the series on twice since, first to CS:GO and then to CS2. CS:S is still here anyway. It's the version a lot of us grew up on, it runs on almost anything, and its community servers are where surf, bhop, jailbreak, zombie escape and gungame still live. If your group keeps coming back to it, or you just want de_dust2 to feel the way it did in 2005, your own server is how you get that. Everything you'd normally change sits on the Manage tab of the control panel: map, slots (up to 64), round time, freeze time, buy time, start money, the bomb timer, friendly fire, team balance and all talk. Bots get a count, a fill mode and a difficulty. SourceTV is one switch if you want spectators or demos, and there's a field for your own fast download URL, so players aren't stuck pulling custom maps from the game server at dial-up speed. Metamod:Source and SourceMod install from the Mods tab in one click. After that it's your plugins, your admins and your rules, which is honestly the whole point of running a CS:S server. Backups, DDoS protection and a support team that's there at 3am come as standard.
