StarRupture dedicated servers have an unusual setup flow: the first world/save is created and “started” from the StarRupture game client using Manage Server. Once a save is running, players join via Join Game → Dedicated Server.
If you're using LOW.MS, your Server IP and Port are shown in your welcome email and in the LOW.MS Control Panel.
What you’ll need
- Your Server IP
- Your Game Port (default is commonly
7777) - (Optional) A Player Password (the password players enter to join)
Important: StarRupture uses two password concepts:
- Server Management password (used in Manage Server to control the session/save)
- Player/Join password (used by players in Join Game to connect)
Step 1 — Start your server in LOW.MS
- Open the LOW.MS Control Panel
- Select your StarRupture service
- Click Start (or Restart if it’s already running)
- Wait ~60 seconds so the server finishes booting
Step 2 — Create your first save (Manage Server)
- Launch StarRupture on your PC
- From the main menu, click Manage Server
- Enter your Server IP and Port
- If the game rejects
IP:Port, try entering just the IP first (some builds auto-assume the default port)
- If the game rejects
- When prompted, set a Server Management password
- This is not the same as the join password
- (Optional) Set a Player/Join password
- Click New Game (this creates the world/save on the server)
- Click Start Game
- The server is now running with this save
Step 3 — Join the running server
- Return to the main menu
- Click Join Game
- Open the Dedicated Server tab
- Enter your Server IP (or IP:Port depending on what the client asks for)
- Enter the Player/Join password (if you set one)
- Click Connect/Join
Common first-time mistakes (quick fixes)
I can’t join but the server is “online”
- Make sure you completed Manage Server → New Game → Start Game first
- Double-check you’re using the Player/Join password, not the Management password
- Try restarting the server from the LOW.MS panel, wait 60–90 seconds, then join again
I restarted the server and it feels like a fresh/empty session
StarRupture often needs you to load the save again (or use DSSettings to auto-load).
