Sons of the Forest is Endnight Games' follow-up to The Forest – a co-op survival horror set on a remote, cannibal-infested island. You forage, build, fight, and try to survive long enough to piece the story together. Released in Early Access March 2023 and 1.0 in February 2024.
The game supports up to 8 players in a co-op session. Our plans come in 6-slot and 8-slot tiers so you can right-size to your group.
Not officially. There is no Steam Workshop for Sons of the Forest and no first-class modding API. Community mod loaders exist (RedLoader, Nexus Mods) but they are not server-supported in the way Palworld or DST mods are. Play vanilla is the reliable path.

SotF is the spiritual sequel – same survival-horror DNA, bigger world, new cannibal AI, a proper story with NPC companions like Kelvin and Virginia, and more advanced building. Different Steam app, different save format, different game entirely.
On LOW.MS, no – we run the official dedicated server for you and expose the config through the control panel. Self-hosters run the Sons of the Forest Dedicated Server tool from Steam (it is a separate free install under Tools).
Our servers include 10 GB RAM by default, which is more than comfortable for 6–8 players. Heavier builders (towns of 500+ structures) may want to upgrade to 15, 20, 25 or 30 GB through configurable resources on the plan.

Was ist Sons of the Forest
Sons of the Forest is Endnight Games' follow-up to The Forest, and it arrived as one of the defining co-op survival-horror games of the Early Access era. Crash-land on an eerie, cannibal-infested island, scavenge, build a base that can actually stand up to the night, and try to survive long enough to piece the story together. The game left Early Access with its 1.0 release in February 2024 and Endnight have kept pushing patches since. We've been hosting SotF servers since the servers-enabled patch in mid-2023, and honestly it's one of the cleaner dedicated-server experiences in the survival-horror space. Up to 8 players can drop into a persistent cluster, the save format is portable (upload your local save and pick up where you left off), and the server binary is light enough that everyone gets a responsive experience without us throwing expensive hardware at it. Our plans run on the same stack as our Palworld and Valheim servers – enterprise hardware, the Latest CPU upgrade option for Ryzen 7950X/9950X if you want guaranteed silicon, DDoS protection, automated cloud backups, and a control panel that actually shows you what your server is doing. Whether you're running a small 4-player group through the story or an 8-slot public community, the same tooling covers it.
