Enshrouded is RAM-hungry, especially with larger groups spread across multiple biomes. Not officially. Keen Games haven't released a mod SDK, so there is no supported modding pipeline for Enshrouded. Community tools like Shroudtopia exist, but they are unofficial and not something we support on our servers.
Difficulty is controlled by the `gameSettingsPreset` value in `enshrouded_server.json`. You can pick `Default`, `Relaxed`, `Hard`, `Survival`, or `Custom` — and if you choose `Custom`, you unlock the full set of individual tuning knobs. Yes. Set the `password` field in `enshrouded_server.json` via Configuration Files and restart. Only players with the password will be able to join.
There's no hard rule — we generally suggest a restart after any major game update, and if you're running a big group you might schedule a nightly or weekly restart just for good measure. Scheduled Tasks in the control panel makes this painless.
Your server won't accept connections from clients on a newer version until it's been updated. When a patch drops, run Steam Update from the control panel to pull the latest build, then restart the server. We recommend grabbing a Cloud Backup before big updates, just in case.
You don't need to worry about this — your server comes pre-configured with the correct ports for Enshrouded, so there's nothing to set up or forward. Just hand out your connection details from the control panel and your players can join.
